This unrealized project started just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic featured the creation of a series of off-the-grid sustainable eco-villas in a soon-to-be reforested hillside region of the Scottish Highlands. Emphasizing an approach that minimizes invasive modifications to the existing site, the villas consist of a service core constructed from gabion walls created from local rock material dovetailed with pre-manufactured villa quarters that include bedroom, living room, dining, and kitchen amenities. These self-sufficient structures utilize a multitude of sustainable technologies including small scale wind turbines, composting flush fixtures, and rainwater harvesting cisterns.
